Seniors' Inter House English Debates-2006

This time again, like in the past, the Seniors’ English debates were held just before the Gibson Memorial English Debates, our annual feature, to prepare our speakers to understand and dissect the topics for the upcoming competition.

We had a very interesting final round of some fierce debating on; India is Mature Enough to Talk Sex in the Classroom with Kashmir House proposing the motion and Jodhpur House opposing it.

The motion was defeated and Jodhpur House prevailed with a narrow margin. Ayushman Mitra of Jodhpur House who is an emerging force in our debating circle was the best speaker in the final. Jahan Singh Bakshi was the Chairman of the debate who also expressed his valid viewpoint.

The topic was thrown open to the house and it attracted a number of people to speak their views out. In the end the arguments were summed up by Mr.Vivek Pant. The Vice Principal, Mr.Samar Bhaduri and the Principal, Mr.Pramod Sharma also stressed on the need of a proper and guided sex education at the right age.
