Scholastic Book Fair – April 2009
Curiosity notwithstanding the proverbial fate of the proverbial cat lies at the marrow of all intellectual passion; where art, science and philosophy cohere as one single instinct : the irrepressible human need to explain, to explore and to enquire. Books satisfy this irrepressible human need. Books are the treasured wealth of the world and the fit inheritance of generations and nations.
A scholastic Book Fair was held in Mayo College Junior School in April, 2009. Children bought books on varied subjects. The more we study the more we realize the vast expanse of our ignorance. Reading maketh a man. The greatest gift is a passion for reading. Holiday makers can rest during holidays by sitting in a corner by themselves with a story book.
Thomas B.Macaulay has rightly said, "I would rather be a poor man in a garret with plenty of books than a king who did not love reading." The recipient for the Common Wealth Booker Prize – Vikram Chandra in 1996 (Red Earth and Pouring Rain), an old boy of Mayo College, Ajmer gives all the credit to the library of his alma mater. Our high respect for a well – read man is praise enough for literature.
