Visit of Gymnesium bei St. Michael School, Germany

The Orchestra (Big Band) of the school “Gymnesium bei St. Michael” from Schwabisch Hall, Germany visited Mayo College, Ajmer, between 3rd and 4th of November 2009.  The group is on an invitation from Max Mueller Bhavan/Goethe Institute. They came to Ajmer after performing in Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi.

The Orchestra comprised of 23 members, between the age group of 13years to 19 years. They played instruments like Trombones, Trumpets, Saxophones, Flutes, Piano, Drums, Congo, Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar and Various Side Rhythms. The Orchestra played modern music which comprised of classical, popular and film music.

To begin with they started by a power point presentation telling about their country followed by their city Schwabisch Hall and then their school. After this the Big Band played the National Anthems of India and Germany which was received by the audience with high spirits. In continuation to this they gave the final performance of modern music which lasted for an hour. The Performance was well received by the audience which gave standing ovation to the Big Band Orchestra.
