JANMASHTAMI FESTIVAL AT MAYO COLLEGE TEMPLE
The celebrations of Lord Krishna were observed with zeal and fervour on August 14, 2009 at the Kishangarh temple of Mayo College. The celebrations began with unfurling of flag and bathing of Lord Krishna’s idol with holy water early in the morning. Mrs.&Mr.Bhaduri participated in this ritual and the temple premises was shaken up by the voice of Oman House boys in praise of Lord Krishna. By evening, the whole temple was decorated with flowers and garlands and Lord Krishna’s idol was decorated beautifully. Since 5:15 p.m., students from different houses started visiting the temple in their ceremonial dresses.
After regular prayers, Mr.P.K.Joshi, temple in-charge, motivated boys for personality and character development by narrating many stories related to Lord Krishna’s life. Sweets were distributed in the end. Devotional Songs or ‘Bhajans’ were organized late in the evening. Many of the Staff members and Karancharis made the atmosphere divine by singing 'Bhajans'. As the clock struck 12 midnight, Lord Krishna was symbolically born and the temple was filled with praises of lord Krishna. Our Officiating Principal Mr.Samar Bhaduri performed the midnight rituals for Lord Krishna. ‘Aarti’ and flower offerings were made and sweets were distributed which marked the conclusion of the celebrations.
