Social Service in Junior School

This is the weather the cuckoo likes,

And so do I;

When showers be tumble the chestnut spikes,

And nestlings fly.

Thomas Hardy (1840 – 1928: ‘Weathers’ 1922)

As the Mayoites in the Junior School returned from long summer break, the headmaster Mr.Pramod Chaturvedi, keeping in mind their sprightliness, asked them to pull out the weeds and collect the stones. The boys became busy in service towards their alma mater. They did the job well and very happily. Their excitement reminded us of a line by Logan Pearsall Smith (1865 – 1946 : ‘ Afterthoughts’ 1931),

"Thank heavens, the sun has gone in and I don’t have to go out and enjoy it."
