Teachers’ Day Celebrations

On September 5, 2009, Teachers’ Day was celebrated at Mayo College to regard the ‘Gurus’ for their support and guidance. It was indeed a fun-filled day not just for the staff but also for the students.

At Junior School, it commenced with a short programme put up by the boys especially for their beloved teachers. It had a prayer song, speeches in English as well as Hindi, a ‘Meera Bhajan’, ‘Tu pyar ka sagar hai’ on the orchestra, a skit based on the funny incidences that keep occurring in school and a power point presentation on the teachers followed by a staff vs. student Cricket Match which was once again reveled in by all the members of the Junior School.

At Senior School, the assembly was taken by the College Captain. There was a brief meeting of the students of class 12 & the teachers over a cup of tea at 11.00 a.m. in the Senior Mess. In the morning, Staff team played a Hockey match on the Sherring Ground and at around 11.30 pm the Staff Cricket team played a 15 over cricket match on the Central Ground against the class XII students. At 4.00 p.m. the students & the teachers played a Water Polo match in the Gibson Pool. At 8.00 p.m., the students assembled on the lawns of the Principal’s house where the students and teachers put up a short entertainment program. The evening closed with a Dinner.
