Martyrs’ Day

Under the auspice of Department of History, students spoke on different aspects of Martyrs’ day during the morning Assembly.

Vikram Sachdeva, Bharatpur House shared his thoughts on sacrifices made by our Martyrs. He emphasized that the Martyrs laid the actual foundation stone of our great country. Heroes are remembered because of their deeds, they fought oppression and tyranny so that future generations could see a better and free future....they are still in our hearts and their fighting spirits will always stay imbued in us.

Shiven Garg, Kashmir House spoke on the significance of 30th January and vividly described the events leading to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. Shiven remarked that this event is the darkest hour in the history of independent India. India lost its most respected and loved leader who had led them to freedom. Mahatma meaning the Great Soul has been the name given to him for all the sacrifices he went through for liberating the country using the tools of Ahimsa and Satyagraha.

The Principal further emphasized on the importance and relevance of Martyrs’ Day. While paying his tribute to Mahatma Gandhi he also asked the boys to remember and saluted the Martyrs like Mahatma Gandhi and the soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces for their supreme sacrifice and who put duty before self. The Principal advised the student community to follow the path of truth and non-violence and to see for themselves the difference it would make in their approach in life.

Vatsal Mishra of Kashmir House conducted the programme.
