The rock climbing wall was inaugurated on 02 Feb 12 by Mrs Kavita Datta wife of Late Mr Rohan Kanhai Datta (KAN). The occasion was graced by Mr Charu Sharma, an old boy and well known TV personality.
The rock climbing wall was donated in the memory of Late Mr Rohan Kanhai Datta by his wife Mrs Kavita Datta which costed Rs 20,000,00/-.
The unveiling of the plaque was greeted with a thundering applause from those in attendance.
Young students from class 6 to 12 demonstrated their rock climbing skills to the gathering.
Skills like top roping, rappelling, demonstration of the basic and essential rock climbing knots and communication skills required while climbing were demonstrated by the students.
Mr Charu Sharma spoke about his time spent with Late Mr Rohan Kanhai Datta at Mayo and later during the course of his mountaineering expeditions. He thanked Mrs Kavita Datta for the magnificent gift made to Mayo in the memory of her late husband.
The Principal expressed his views on the transformation that took place in the life of Late Mr Rohan Kanhai Datta after he joined Mayo. He also shared with the gathering that nothing beats rock climbing for physical fitness, fun, endurance and to enhance your adrenaline. He also thanked Mrs Kavita Dutta and Mr Charu Sharma for gracing the occasion.
